Created on request for a newlywed couple celebrating their first year in a new home.
This painting was created in several stages. First, of course, was the drawing of the home, depicted at twilight, when the daylight is fading and the stars are brightening. Light pours out of the door, emphasizing the bright joy that this couple brings into a world that can be dark and frightening.

I focused on three primary trees standing proudly over the home, representing the guardianship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. After the drawing of the home was complete, I moved on to painting two separate starscapes. (One of my favorite things to paint!) The drawing of the home was placed on the first starscape with an archival float mount technique, giving the home a solid and tangible presence in the vastness of Creation.
The second starscape was cut into custom box spacers and inscribed with a prayer written especially for the couple:

And may this house, rooted in the personhood, teaching, and love of Christ, be a blessing to all who enter it. May it be a safe haven, a place of joy, and a fortress for you as you carry Christ’s love into the world.”
After that, all the materials were assembled into a frame, enveloping the home, in the most literal sense, in a box of prayers. Assembly was a joyful, meditative process, and always full of love! Congratulations to the couple!
